AROHA

Whakapukepuke ai ngā ngaru o te moana,
E kai nei te aroha ki āku tau whakaingona,
E kōripo ngā hau ki runga ki ngā hiwi,
He hau-pāpaki-roa ka māro i te whenua.
He aroha, te aroha whakatinanatia!
Ngā kupu tohutohu i waihotia iho,
Hei whakahoehoe i te motu nei eei

These resources have been developed to help whānau plan for, and navigate the inevitable passing of a loved one. They designed so that individual whānau members can process their thinking and get their own affairs in order, ideally to make it easier on the whānau who are left to put things in place while carrying this loss.
For many whānau thinking about death is hard, and some of the prompts may be confronting. However whānau discussions in this space are important. This pukapuka is not designed to take the place of ā kānohi discussions, but merely to help work through some of the practical aspects to be considered.
The grief journey of every whānau, and in-fact every person is different. These kaupapa have been crafted from our personal experience, and may not cover all aspects that apply to you and your whānau. Likewise, there may be some kaupapa that don’t apply to you, or that you’re not comfortable discussing or planning.
We hope you find the information helpful, and that if nothing more it prompts you to start thinking.
About us
Ruapehu te Maunga
Whanganui te Awa
Te Āti Haunui-ā-pāpārangi, Ngāti Rangi, Te Āti Awa, Muaūpoko ngā iwi
This kaupapa has been developed by our whānau, based on our experiences as we have tried to get our affairs in order, and as we have navigated the losses of those close to us, and been inspired by our hoa who have done amazing mahi in supporting their whānau to put things in place for those important to them.
This is a heavy kaupapa, and we're honoured to be able to hopefully do a little bit to try and help lift some of the heavy for others in the future.
As a whānau, we have spend many hours talking, working through different aspects, designing and editing. We are hugely thankful to all those who have shared their whakaaro, reviewed the pukapuka and helped us refine these resources, so they hopefully work for you.
Mai te whānau Herewini, nei ra te mihi aroha ki koutou.
